Katie Finlayson
A long term, ‘first choice’ home educator of four children, Katie has been involved in local and national peer support for almost 20 years, focusing on the day-to-day realities of home educating, particularly at GCSE level. She currently runs a local in-person social meet, and is part of the admin team for a national home educator support group of over 80,000 members. In 2021, Katie joined the Home Educators’ Qualifications Association as a trustee, providing a link between home educators and exam boards, Ofqual and the DfE. She is also a member of the OCR EDIB Advisory board, the Finding the Flex advisory board, and has been Chair of Governors at a small rural primary school in Wales. Katie has conducted large scale surveys collecting the experiences of hundreds of home educators.
