Have you ever felt stuck, insignificant, or like your day-day feelings and thoughts don’t actually match up with your big vision for your family? It is easy, as a home educating parent, to become so invested in our children and our dreams for their lives, and become accustomed to a daily grind that requires so much investment of ourselves, that we slowly loose touch with our sense of self. One might be aware of this, yet not know where there is ‘give.’ We may feel that if we honour our emotions and feelings, then we might not be able to fulfil our duties and goals. In fact, the opposite is true! It is in creating space for ourselves, that we can truly be present, and bring life and the long-term sustainability of our family dreams! A happy, well-regulated parent = a peaceful home. In this talk, Kerrin Butterworth will share both from firsthand experience as a second generation home educator, and from her studies in Psychology at Masters level. This talk will give some practical tips, as well as share some of ideas that she has explored during the recent study she ran with home educating mothers. The emphasis will be on how self awareness, and identifying our personal thresholds, helps bringing more peace and less stress into our homes, and long-term sustainability.
